ABOUT Cosplay
Cosplay, short for “costume play,” is a hobby where individuals dress up as characters from movies, TV shows, books, comics, anime, video games, and other forms of media. Participants often wear elaborate costumes and accessories to represent their chosen characters and may attend conventions, photoshoots, or other events.Cosplay involves not only dressing up as a character but often embodying their personality and mannerisms. It originated in Japan and has since become a global phenomenon, with enthusiasts participating in conventions, competitions, and community events. Cosplayers may create their own costumes, purchase them, or commission them from skilled costume makers.
TOURNAMENT RULES
- Respect Others: Be courteous to fellow cosplayers, attendees, and event staff. Obtain permission before taking photos or touching costumes and props.
- Ask for Consent: Always ask for consent before photographing or interacting with a cosplayer. Respect their right to say no.
- Be Safe: Ensure that your costume and props are safe for you and others. Avoid sharp edges, heavy items, or anything that could cause injury.
- Follow Convention Rules: Adhere to the specific rules and policies set by the convention or event organizers, including guidelines on prop weapons, behavior, and conduct.
MATCH SETUP
- Eligibility: Costumes/Cosplay can be game, anime, movie, or comic-based.
- Costume Rules: Costumes should be appropriate; majority self-made with minor elements allowed to be purchased.
- Performance: Minimum of 30 sec and maximum 3 minutes stage performance showcasing character; music/voiceover must be pre-submitted.
- Judging Criteria: Judged on accuracy, craftsmanship, creativity, and stage presence; decisions of the Nepalplays is final.
- Conduct: No harmful materials; unsportsmanlike behavior results in disqualification.
- Prizes: Prizes awarded as announced; tie-breaking determined by judges.
- Photography and Videography: Participants consent to being filmed and photographed for promotional use.
- Modifications: Organizers may modify rules with prior notification to participants.
Cosplay Competition Faq
The contest will have a stage performance format where participants will showcase their costumes in front of judges.
The prize pool will be distributed among the top 3 winners. See complete details in prize tab of game page.
Cosplay Rules
- Stage performance is mandatory for entry to cosplay competitions. Stage performers are allotted stage time of 30 seconds to a maximum of 3 minutes. Please provide your background video for your stage performance when you register for the competition.
- Judging will be done based on the given criteria and will be judged fairly. Final tie score will lead to a simple vote of majority within the crowd.
Judging Criteria:
Stage performance (30% weightage)
- Expressions, Act and Visual impact on stage performance by the cosplayers
- Act, Expressions and Behaviors direct comparison to the character by the cosplayer on stage
Craftsmanship (70% weightage)
- Accuracy based on the original character
- Quality of the craft and fabrics
